Key takeaways
- Employees punch in and out and take breaks from the agent on their own computer, wherever they work.
- Invite codes are single-use and expire after 1 day, and admins can resend them.
- Managers see attendance, presence and reports for their own departments only.
When people work from home, from the office or both, attendance stops being about who is sitting where and becomes about when work happens. Here is a practical way to set up attendance tracking for a remote or hybrid team with TIMO360.
Set it up in six steps
Create your organization and, if you have several teams, set up departments with an assigned manager for each.
Invite employees. Each person receives an invite email with a single-use enrollment code. Codes expire after 1 day, and administrators can resend an invite from the employee's page.
Have each employee install the desktop agent for their computer: Windows (Windows 10 or later, 64-bit), macOS (macOS 12 Monterey or later, Apple silicon and Intel), or Linux (any x86_64 distribution with a desktop session).
Employees punch in and out, and start and end breaks, from the agent.
Check the daily breakdown of working, idle and break time, and switch on the alerts you want.
Choose who sees what. Managers see their assigned departments, and employees see their own data.
What managers see
Attendance and presence data feed daily, weekly and monthly reports that can be exported as CSV, Excel or PDF. Managers and admins also get real-time alerts when an employee goes offline, a device stops reporting or an agent needs updating.
Handling the messy parts
Forgotten punch-outs: sessions left open are closed automatically overnight and administrators are notified.
Computers that shut down or lose internet: the device is marked offline and can trigger an alert if it stays silent.
Mixed operating systems: the same agent approach covers Windows, macOS and Linux.
The same setup works whether people are at home, in the office or switching between them, because the agent runs on each employee's own computer. See attendance, team management and device management for details, then download the agent.
